The Friends of Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, Inc., was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to support, assist and enable the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic to provide health care to medically indigent residents of Martin County, Florida.
FVIM is the nonprofit corporation responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability of VIM Clinic. The Board of Directors consists of not less than nine and no more than 20 members who are elected from the community for one-year terms. At least 20 percent of board members must be active volunteers at VIM Clinic.

Developed and implemented ancillary operations including medical supplies, walk-in treatment and diagnostic centers, and home health services.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Quality Assurance, and Utilization Review. Served as Chief Medical Officer of MHS and VP of Medical Affairs from 1996-2012. Graduate of Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his residency in Tampa, FL and ran a private Pulmonary Medicine practice for 17 years upon arriving in Stuart in 1979. Today he is partner at Treasure Coast Concierge and volunteers weekly at VIM.
As spouse of one of our volunteer providers, Dr. Osmar Steinwald, plastic surgeon, she wanted to get involved and support the VIM Clinic. They are in the process of moving to Florida year-round from Lake Forest, Illinois.
