Mission

Our mission is to understand and meet the health and wellness needs of the medically underserved population of Martin County. This mission will be accomplished primarily through volunteers, retired medical professionals and area residents, working in concert with Martin County medical resources. Inherent in our mission is the ongoing study of target community demographics and needs that will shape the scope of services provided by the clinic.

PATIENTS & VOLUNTEERS
The VIM Clinic serves the health and wellness needs of community members who are not eligible for any government programs, are not covered by insurance and have income levels below 200 percent of the poverty level. Quality and compassionate medical care is provided by volunteer medical personnel working in concert with existing medical resources and with the support of the community.

IMPACT
The VIM Clinic handles over 12,500 patient visits a year and has saved taxpayers more than $3 million in eight years by reducing the need for overnight hospital stays by uninsured patients. More than 98 percent of our funding goes directly to program services, thanks to our dedicated volunteers and a small paid staff. With a 2010 budget of $718,000, we will provide $8.2 million in services, thanks in large part to the generosity of the medical community, pharmaceutical companies and Martin Health System.

VISION
May we have eyes to see those rendered invisible and excluded.
May we open our arms and hearts to reach out and include them.
May we extend healing hands to touch their lives with love. And in the process, may we heal ourselves.
