Wish List

We are fortunate to have a wide array of practitioners and specialists who generously give their time at the clinic and take referrals to provide our patients with the care they need.

Many of our medical volunteers are retired. Some are students who obtain their hands-on clinical work under the guidance and supervision of our Medical Director, Clinical Director and other experienced, licensed staff.

If you’re interested in offering your services to help us provide the medically uninsured in our community with quality care, please contact us or submit an application form online.

While the VIM Clinic relies heavily on cash and other financial donations, there are many items we need that do not require your checkbook. In-kind donations of equipment, supplies or other property are very much appreciated.

While there are many items that we always need, there are some we cannot use at all. The following lists are suggestions of what we can and cannot accept:

ACCEPT

Unopened medication samples from physicians’ offices and pharmaceutical reps.

Medication samples that are not expired.

General medical, lab and gynecological supplies.

Paper products and supplies for kitchen and restrooms.

General office supplies such as pens, printer paper and paper clips.

CANNOT ACCEPT

× Controlled substances, including sleeping pills.

× Medications that have been opened, used, or have expired.

× Medications from general public.

× Sickroom supplies (walkers, commodes, etc.)

× Personal hygiene supplies.

× Older computers, bulky monitors.

In 2009, we received nearly $830,000 worth of samples for distribution to our patients. In 2010, we expect to receive about $500,000 worth. By comparison, in 2005, we received $2 million worth of samples. Our inventory is calculated using The Red Book.

Our medications budget has increased from $16,000 in 2009 to $24,000 in 2010. A large number of our patients require treatment for diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

On the non-medical side, we routinely need help with grounds and property maintenance, event planning and various fund-raising activities. Creative, talented and energetic people can help in many, many ways!

For example, our administrative people would very much appreciate an ergonomic re-design of their workstations so they are more at eye level with patients at the front counter.

Throughout the year, we could use talented graphic designers to work on event themes, invitations and other items that support our fund-raising activities.

These are just a few ways in which you can help out, have fun and make a big difference in your community. If you’d like to contribute your time, talent, goods or services, please contact us. You can also stay in touch by signing up for RSS feeds, which will update you each time we post something new on our Web site.

Thank you so much for donating to the VIM Clinic!
